Our school delivers a
State Delivered Kindergarten (SDK) program. SDK gives children in selected rural, remote, discrete Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, or other selected communities where there are barriers to accessing kindergarten, the opportunity to participate in a face-to-face program at their local state school.
The kindergarten program is delivered by our teaching staff in a classroom setting and is available for 15 hours per week during school terms.
The Queensland Government is committed to giving every Queensland child the opportunity for a great start to kindergarten, setting strong foundations for life and learning. SDK is an important way for many isolated children to access a kindergarten program.
What is kindy?
Kindergarten is a part-time educational program for children in the year before Prep (the first year of school in Queensland). SDK is a place where your little one will make friends, explore new environments and have fun learning through meaningful experiences and interactions that support their early learning, wellbeing and development.
Kindy counts for a lifetime.

Kindergarten provides young children with opportunities to learn in a respectful environment to:
- use language to communicate ideas, feelings and needs
- make friends, interact and cooperate with others
- identify issues and develop problem-solving skills
- become more confident and independent in their abilities
- connect with, explore and contribute to, their world
- build their knowledge and explore new ideas, helping to build their confidence.
- Can my child participate?
To participate in our school’s free SDK program, your child must turn 4 by 30 June in the year they attend. If your child is eligible, contact our school to commence the kindergarten registration process.
